Friday 13th August - unlucky for some......

........but not for my friend and fellow blogger Marie, at Oak Cottage .  It's her birthday today, her new puppy arrives today, she had good news today, AND she has a birthday cake.  But I bet she hasn't put 55 candles on it (heh heh)!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

After my 'gadgets' post the other day, Andy commented that I hadn't mentioned the microwave as being an enabler.  Even as I replied to him that I hardly ever used it I got to thinking: warming up mugs of coffee, melting chocolate, thawing breadloaves. softening butter... and so on.  So I do use it.  Where I have to use a knife for anything I've found that having the best you can afford and keeping them razor-sharp is the best policy.

Amazon is becoming my best friend.  Yes, I know, sad isn't it? But a couple of times I've caught Keith attacking the ironing basket.  Now I don't mind him hoovering or making cakes  but not ironing.  Don't ask me why, it's a woman thing.  So today I've ordered this:

My friend Judith, also other-abled, swears by hers so let's have a go.

Meanwhile - it's pouring with rain and only 15 degrees AND it's afternoon!  I can't remember the summer weather, though I know we did have some.  My positive side says it will come back, experience says it won't!  We haven't really had much rain so the trees are thinking it's Autumn and are shedding their leaves early.  I do hope we won't be denied completely the beautiful sight of trees and hedgerows dressed in their autumn coats.

OK, that's it for now.  Nothing to see here sir.  Move along now........

Happy Superstition Day! It's my sister-in-law's birthday today too, and I hope it's a great blessed day for her.

Our pastor says there's no such thing a 'Luck', there are only blessings and when good things happen we should know who to thank.

I just had an odd thing happen, though. A stranger cat just walked up onto my deck and meowed in my back door. A message from beyond, no doubt.

We are having high heat (temps in the 90's with head index even higher) and glaring sun shine over here. Wish I knew a way to SHARE some of it with you!

Wow Angie!
That is quite the gadget; but I can't figure out how it works. My mom many many years ago had a roller to help her do her ironing; she was full of arthritis too.
I made your bread; thank you!
It came out really nice. We are in a deep heat wave and I hate to turn the oven on.

I can just imagine our dear friend Marie sitting tonight nursing a liitle dog on her lap !! she will be loving it..what a great birthday present...she is such a dear lady isn't she.
we have had a nice day around here some short showers but otherwise nice and even warm in the sunshine I have been over to the Bristal Balloon Festival and although there were no balloon lift off as it was too windy it was still a nice way to spend the day out inthe fresh air.

Is that an ironer, Angie? My mom had a ironer when I was young. She took in wash to earn money and she could do an amazing job with her ironer. Let me know how it works.

I got a steamer that I use more than my iron. I have gotten lazy about ironing.... However, send Keithd to my house. I will be glad to let him iron all he wants to.... and maybe he could teach John how to do it too. I don't think John knows how to turn it on...he has certainly never used one to my knowledge.

Have a great week. Hugs, Lura

Hehee - ALWAYS something to see here on your blog Angie!

Lots of love to you, Sal and the K-Man.

Jasper says that, for the right price, he would have pinched one of those trouser-presser-thingies from the local Travelodge! Bargain! xx
