New beginnings

See this? It's my finger. Still attached to my hand and with a blue food-grade elastoplast on it. I couldn't find any ordinary ones but then, we NEVER have any when I want one!
And THIS is the little demon wot dun it! The biggest knife I have and lethally sharp, I used it for cutting up veg this morning. I washed it very carefully, rinsed it under running water and stood it in the drainer while I turned away to get the teatowel to dry it with, at the same time knocking down the lever which turns the tap off - and slicing my finger. BLEED? Think 'stuck pigs'!
I think me and Slimming World have come to the parting of the ways. Although I've been following their plan to the letter, I once again lost only half a pound this week - and that was only the half pound I gained last week which, in turn, took care of the half pound I lost the week before. Impasse! Well I can do that without paying £4.50 each week for the honour. I've been doing some reading and serious thinking and, together with what other people have said to me (including some of you - bless you for that) I've reached some conclusions.
The main one I'll just have to quote from my book of the moment: "If what you're doing isn't working, you need to try something else ".
So ...........
I am going to stop being so horrid to me; have a 'be nice to Angie' regime.
I'm going to accept me just as I am, at any given moment in time.
I'm going to try very hard to remember that other people don't see me as I do. I only see what's in the mirror; others see the whole package.
I'm going to try each day to find one nice thing to say about myself, and believe it.
I'm going to stop being ashamed of my 'fatness' and be proud I'm doing something about it.
I'm going to eat properly and healthily and only when I'm actually hungry.. I know HOW, I just got out of the habit.
It starts right now.
I just had a lovely surprise phone call, while I've been limping around my keyboard with my poorly finger (awww). It was a lady called Jan who has a blog named Serendipity and I've never spoken to her before. She was only looking for a piece of information but we ended up having a good old natter and I have no doubt that we shall natter again very soon. It's nice to put a voice to a name, don't you think? Even nicer if there's a face to go with it, though I understand people being a bit reticent about showing their faces. Specially if they're ugly ............... JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!
For goodness sake, it's almost 2pm (and not a child in the house washed, as they used to say)! Keith will be leaving work soon so I should do something about lunch.

Hi Angie, I'm sooo sorry to hear about your accident. Not fun! Try and keep it dry for a couple of days so it can heal.

Take care,

Sorry about your finger! 'Hope it heals fast!
And nice you got to chat with a blogger friend!
And even nicer that you are being so good to yourself, you deserve to give yourself a break! I think most people are hardest on themselves. And great advice that we all should follow!
Take care!
All the best,
Eileen

Angie it's patently obvious that you are lovelier than the loveliest thing - funny, caring and bad with knives. What's a few extra kilos between friends - losing the tedium of slimming world is way better.

I am still all caught up in nattering...a new word for me and I like it, of course...I get tickled pink (what color do you get tickled in England?) when I read the adorable British words here!! Think I will start telling Michael that I would like to natter with him...that ought to throw him for a loop (do you do loops in England?)

Also, we don't have plasters, unless we're repairing a wall with it! As for me, I like to buy band aids on sale, so I always have a good supply and funny ones too...there are some that look like duct tape or have cartoon characters on them! But I just realized that you can make your own funny ones and for free...hmmm...mayube I am missing a great opportunity here!

Finally, don't you dare come down hard on my Angie...she is a wonderful, creative, talented and funny and very nice person! Also EVERY diet plan works...it just depends on how determined we are!

Meanwhile, look in some museums, yard sales, thrift shops etc. for cheap gloves like the knights wore to do your veggie cutting. You could have some VERY unique looking vegetables as well as gloves!

blessings and hugs,

marcy

Ouch! One of the main reasons I never put large knives into my dishwasher as a hand surgeon once told me that when people reach into the dishwasher they forget the knife is there and often it results in a serious hand cut. Those finger cuts hurt like heck!

I am so happy that you still have a finger Angie. I almost cut my tongue off yesterday. It's in my post.
So glad too that you have decided to accept your physical self. It's hard for us girls to do that isn't it!

Ouch Angie!! Bet that is one nasty cut. I cut myself with a sharp knife like that on my very first day of work up at the Big house. Thankfully have never done it since! Hope it heals quickly. I am with you on the slimming front. Dieting doesn't really work in the long run. Other things do, such as eating only when you are really hungry. The trick is recognizing when that is. Jan is lovely!! I have never had the priveledge of speaking to her, but only know her from her blog and the odd e-mail! Lucky you to get to be able to put a voice to that lovely face! Happy Saturday dear friend! May the "force" be with you, and I think you know what I mean by that! xxoo

Hi Angie

Give yourself a break. At least you have been 'having a go'. If you don't want to continue with the diet meetings, try to use what you have learned each week and you may just lose a bit more on your own. Think healthy food thoughts and try and substitute healthy for bad foods, eg. homemade pizza with 1/2 the cheese compared to takeaway pizza dripping in fat. It all helps. Oven fried chips instead of takeaway deepfried. I think you've done very well considering your limited mobility. Think positive, luvvy.

Cheers - Joolz
